Pot Lid: 'J.S. FRY & SONS, BRISTOL''
Description: A once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire this quite outstanding and immensely impressive large coloured pot lid made by the world renowned Pratt company in Staffordshire and advertising Fry's 'Superior Chocolate Paste'. Exquisitely detailed pictorial of an early galleon at anchor in Napirima Bay in Trinidad (with San Fernando Hill in the background and the cocoa bean settlement of San Fernando just below). Superb vibrant colours. Exceptional quality print (far more crisp and detailed than the photos would suggest, if you'd like us to send you high definition images don't hesitate to ask). Has usual Staffordshire alignment dots at 3 and 9 o'clock. Outstanding lid in every way, and you may never see one for sale again as they are extremely rare, avidly chased and often referred to as the ultimate coloured lid. Don't miss it!

Condition (please see detailed photo's): Good Has an ultra-fine hairline on the side wall that only just creeps onto the face (by around 12mm and between 3 and 4 o'clock and which is just visible on the back too) plus has a small 2-3mm fleabite flake on the back rim where the hairline passes through. There's a historic smallish (3mm x 9mm) chip off the back rim (mostly on the inside and not seen on display) and a smaller insignificant ultra-fine hairline that looks to be in manufacture as the tiny flake on it is fully glazed over (this is nigh on impossible to spot to the naked eye) and a couple of historic fleabite flakes on the inside of the back rim (barely worth mentioning) and is otherwise excellent with just the odd area of subtle crazing and light wear but nothing at all untoward

Superbly detailed coloured flowers around border, all underglaze. 3 unusual very small blue printed markings on underside. Very appealing design. Another very rare opportunity!

Description: An extraordinarily rare 'Inimitable Potted Bloater Anchovy & Preserved Meats' large multicoloured pot lid from this retailer in Lambeth, London and featuring the Royal Coat of Arms in full colour below the three flags of the allied armies during the Crimean war. Has 4 distinctive tiny circles at 3 and 9 o'clock being on the face edge (either side of the outer border) indicating it was manaufactured in the Pratt factory in Staffordshire. Very attractive overall design. Yellow border. Excellent quality underglaze print. Another exceptionally rare offering!

Description: Another rare offering, this time a Manchester lid for 'Miller's Royal Alexandra Pomade' and featuring Princess Alexandra with the Prince of Wales (who later became Prince Edward VII). Has two distinctive tiny circles at 3 and 9 o'clock on the face edge (outside the gold band) indicating it was manufactured in the Pratt factory in Staffordshire. Fabulous overall design with the royal coat of arms above the Prince of Wales and two cherubs with a crown above Alexandra. Retains most of original thick gold band. Excellent quality underglaze print. Rarely seen for sale (if at all!)
Miller, Nephew & Co, 91 Picadilly, Manchester - listed in Slater's 1863 directory for Manchester. Likely produced to commemorate the wedding of Albert Edward and Princess Alexandra in the same year
