Embossing:   'H. GILBERTSON & SONS' / 'REGD 30TH OCT 1861' / 'POISON'

Description:   An incredibly rare offering of the legendary Gilbertson's wedge poison in the large (5.75") 4oz size. Fabulous mid-dark green colour. '4' embossed to thin end. Decent large embossing. Iconic & distinctive shape. Few of these classic patent poisons are recorded, let along green examples. Several sizes in clear (and some green) are known to be repaired due an inherent design flaw in having very thin glass in the corners that are hence prone to damage.

'Deadly Pleasures' states this exact one ('reported by John Ault and ex-Melnick collection and dug in Kimberley') is the only 4oz recorded in this colour.

** Don't miss out as this fabulous 'as dug' example is your only chance of adding a 4oz to your collection! **

Henry Gilbertson & Sons, 40 Ludgate Hill, London. Registered design October 1861.

Era:   c1861-70's

Dimensions  Length: 143mm / Width: 44mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Excellent   Great genuine undamaged 'as dug' condition with some minor patches of very light dullness in places (as to be expected) some of the usual in-manufacture tiny crackling inside the neck (due to expansion and contraction in the kiln) and some light internal haziness too in places. But absolutely nothing untoward and a light polish/clean could bring it up beautifully (if so desired).
