| | Pot Lid: 'Baumbrough's'
Description: A scarce Ointment pot lid with patent base made by Maw (the well-known London manufacturing chemist suppliers). A few turned up at a bottle show a couple of years back, but many were chipped and/or poorly registered prints. They were discovered in the cellar of an old former grocer's shop in Leighton Buzzard (Bedforshire, England) which turned out to be quite a significant find, as far as is known, the patent bases might also be unrecorded (?) They are very similar to the Toogoods design, but the grooves in the edges are more like deep slots. Added to that there are no grooves in the lid themselves to be able to tie them down without the string slipping off, so at the moment there seems no point to the patent. Good quality print
Era: c1910-1930's
Diameter: 63 mm
Condition (please see detailed photo's): LID: Excellent Just a tiny pinprick flake in the glaze on the bottom of the rim (which is possibly in-manufacture anyway) and is otherwise mint / BASE - Mint
