Condition (please see detailed photo's): Good/Very good Just a small glaze-scrape on the edge of the face at 5 o'clock (you can only just feel it with your finger), some small and pretty insignificant patches of very light stain/crazing in places, a small rust stain on the back and side rim (which looks like it's never been immersed in rust remover) and a tiny in-manufacture glaze-bubble on the face (above the second 'L' of Gosnell) and is otherwise excellent

Condition (please see detailed photo's): Good Just a small (6mm x 3mm) chip on the back rim and two flakes/tiny chips (2mm) on the back rim edge (that look as if they could even be in-manufacture?) There is also a faint curved 25mm glaze-line on the side which also looks like it is in-manufacture as it looks more like a fault in the glaze (it certainly doesn't go all the way through). Otherwise very good

A series of chips on around one-third of the back rim (that don't show too much from the side elevation as you can see from the detailed photos) and apart from a single tiny and insignificant 3mm flake also on the back flange and some glaze-lines on the underside (that do not go through to the face) and some light glaze wear to the outer rim in one area (very light to the touch) is otherwise very good.

Pot Lid: 'Dr Wrights, Pearl Ointment, London'
Description: This red print lid is an unrecorded variation. It mentions '...the recipe being purchased from 'A Hawkes Esq, Dudley' and has the address No 44 Webber Row, Blackfriars Road (see comparison photo). This lid has been photographed and will appear in the eagerly awaited pot lid book. Has the usual flourishes and swirls associated with early lids. Grab a piece of history!

Description: Another giant lid this time from a company which traded near the west coast of India and features what looks like an eagle in the centre as a trade mark. One of the only lids to mention the 'Supari' nut. Also uniquely mentioning '...gives tone and colour to the gums...and imparts a grateful fragrance to the Breath'. Just 4 tiny and very insignificant pinprick fleabites on the very back edge that really are barely noticeable (and certainly don't detract) and a very unusual small (10mm x 3mm) in-manufacture blue glaze addition/flaw on the upper rim outer edge which I have never seen the like of before (at first it looks like a small accidental splash of paint but it is definitely part of the glaze) which must have been caused during firing. The lid is otherwise a fabulous example and the small mark in front of the man's head is only a tiny smudge in the glaze
