Era:  c1880-1890's

Diameter:    90mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Repaired   Has had professional restoration on the back to a high standard (so good that it's difficult to ascertain if it's just a couple of large chips or more extensive damage). There is very slight overspray than runs over the gold band on the outer edge in places.

Grade :   Ungraded       Estimate:   £40-60+     Reserve:     N/R

12 £ 60

Diameter:    94mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Good/Very good  Just has a smallish (7mm) shallow chip on the back/side edge and some old nibbles/flakes (also on the back edge) that do little if anything to detract on display as can be seen in the photos and is otherwise excellent.

Grade :   8.0       Estimate:   £250-300     Reserve:     N/R

33 £ 385

Era:  c1880-1890's

Diameter:    86mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Very good   Just has a very minor small (5mm) shallow flake on the inside of the rear rim, some insignificant glaze nibbles on the very back edge in one area (barely worth mentioning) and 3 tiny pinhead fleabites on the very back of the rim which are all very minor indeed and is otherwise excellent. (nb The tiny thin line below the first 'E' of Ziemers is in the glaze)

40 £ 195

Pot Lid:   'DANIEL MELIA'

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Very good   Just has a very minor small (20mm) faint hairline on the side (which is only just visible on the face at 11 o'clock), a tiny fleabite on the inside edge at the back (with 2 or 3 microscopic glaze rubs nearby that are very hard to spot) and some very minor greyness on the back rim (hardly worth mentioning) and is otherwise excellent

Grade :   8.3       Estimate:   £400-600     Reserve:     N/R

33 £ 490

Pot Lid:   'H.P. & C.R. TAYLOR, PHILADELPHIA'

Era:  c1870-1880's

Diameter:    84mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Very good   Just has a very minor small (5mm x 6mm) shallow flake/chip on the very back rim (which is 99% hidden from side view anyway) and any other fleabites/tiny flakes also on the back rim could possibly have been caused when taking out of the kiln (either way are pretty insignificant) and is otherwise excellent

Grade :   8.6       Estimate:   £600-800     Reserve:     N/R

28 £ 330

Diameter:   72mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Very good    Just has a pretty insignificant very small (4mm x 5mm) shallow flake/chip on the very back rim (which is 95% hidden from side view) and a single tiny fleabite on the rim edge (hardly worth mentioning) also on the back, otherwise excellent

Grade :    8.8       Estimate:   £60-80     Reserve:     N/R

17 £ 105

Pot Lid:   'BREIDENBACH & CO, LONDON'

Description:  A superb pictorial lid from this prolific manufacturing chemist/perfumer in London. Fabulous pictorial of a young girl with headdress and individual rose below. Excellent quality print. Grey background. Prattware alignment dots at 9 and 3 o'clock (on outside of beaded border). Over 80% of gold band still intact. Another real classic that is rarely seen for sale.

Era:  c1880-1890's

Diameter:   90mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Excellent    Has been left 'as dug' so still has the odd rust spot on the back and one or two light signs of rust crazing on the face and sides (these look like they could be removed with rust remover if so desired but hardly worth it) and some light stain on the back only. All left to prove it hasn't been cleaned or repaired in any way.

Grade :    9.6       Estimate:   £600-800     Reserve:     N/R

40 £ 768

Pot Lid:   'DR ZIEMER'S'

Description:  The medium 3" variant of this popular London lid with Princess Alexandra pictured facing the left (see lots #2,#4, & #59 for other versions). Good quality print.

** One of several items painstakingly collected over the past 40 years by Terry Jackson who sadly passed away in early 2018 **

Era:  c1880-1890's

Diameter:    76mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Repaired   Has had restoration undertaken to around a (1cm x 4cm) section on the back rim to a very good standard (so good that it's difficult to ascertain the full extent of the original damage) - nb the fine line above 'london' looks to be in the print.

Grade :   Ungraded       Estimate:   £30-50+     Reserve:     N/R

8 £ 50

Pot Lid:   'R.B. EDE & CO, LONDON'

Description:   Another fabulous pictorial lid depicting a man shaving in period dress, this time with a cut throat razor in hand and an old oak washstand in the background. Double line border. Good strong print. Scarce and desirable

Era:  c1870-1880's

Diameter:    84mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Repaired   Has had professional restoration undertaken to the back rim but the full extent is very difficult to ascertain due to the sheer quality. The front face seems to be totally unaffected (with just some very light overall superficial surface scratches). On display you'd never know it had been restored (in fact even from behind because of the high level)

Grade :   Ungraded       Estimate:   £250-350     Reserve:     N/R

20 £ 330

Pot Lid:   'W. SURFLEET, AYLESBURY'

Description:  A scarce 'Areca Nut Tooth Paste' lid from this ancient market town in Buckinghamshire. Crown pictorial and single line border. Excellent quality print.

** One of several items painstakingly collected over the past 40 years by Terry Jackson who sadly passed away early last year **

Era:  c1880-1900's

Diameter:    66mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Excellent  Superb undamaged condition with just several light grey glaze crazing lines that do little if anything to detract and may even clean out if so desired (hardly worth it)

Grade :    9.7       Estimate:   £40-60     Reserve:     N/R

20 £ 174

Pot Lid:   'PRICE & CO, LATE PRICE & GOSNELL'

Description:  A totally unrecorded variation of this scarce and very desirable lid depicting Princess Alexandra with a necklace and rear veil. However unlike others this has the same layout as the 'full veil' portrait but with the rear veil Alexandra instead (see page 371 of the new 'Historical Guide to Black & White Pot Lids'). Plus is also unique in being the only variant of any of these Alexandra lids that doesn't have a beaded border. Plus this one has 'Prepared By' wording instead of the normal 'Manufactured By' on rear veiled versions. Single line border. Excellent quality print. Retains at least 75% of original gold band.

It's nigh on impossible to pick up unique portrait pictorials nowadays. Don't miss this one!

Era:  c1870-1890's

Diameter:    85mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Very good  Has been left 'as dug' so still has the odd rust spot/light rust stain on the back and several light signs of rust crazing on the sides (these could easily be removed with rust remover if so desired but hardly worth it and all left to prove it hasn't been cleaned or repaired in any way) and a very small (3-4mm) flake/chip on the back rim edge (with very small and light horseshoe shape crack/hairline beyond which is barely visible) and an old 3mm flake/chip on the inside of the rear rim close by and a tiny (2mm) flake/fleabite on the rear edge at the back. All this of course mentioned for 100% accuracy but as can be seen from the photos does little if anything to detract and is otherwise excellent

Grade :    8.3       Estimate:   £500-700     Reserve:     N/R

80 £ 1,970

Pot Lid:   'J&E ATKINSON, LONDON'

Description:   A very apealing lid in having a pink background with darker red floral patterns around the sides and border and featuring a couple of camel riders marvelling at the sight of the Sphynx and two pyramids. Deep lid with fancy border. Excellent quality print. Unusual to find with pink background intact

Era:  c1870-1880's

Diameter:    84mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):  Repaired   Has had good quality restoration undertaken to the parts of the back rim/side but the full extent is very difficult to ascertain. It looks like two or three large chips have been filled and the 'BEAU' of Beautifying looks slightly darker )although otherwise the front face seems to be totally untouched (other than a thin covering of lacquer maybe). Great on display as can be seen in the photos

Grade :   Ungraded       Estimate:   £60-80     Reserve:     N/R

8 £ 55

Pot Lid:    'KRANOL'

Description:  A very eye-catching large lid featuring a girl with very long hair (presumably after using this product). Classic design and always popular with collectors. Excellent quality print. Rare to find in such great condition

Most likely a Cheshire business, possibly even the city of Chester itself as many of the damaged ones found in the '80's came from around here. Design reg date is 1896

Era:    c1896-1900's

Diameter:    96 mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):   Mint/Excellent   Superb condition with just what looks like a tiny stilt mark on the underside rim (with another two) which at worst is a tiny flake, but looks far more likely to be in-manufacture and is otherwise mint with just some very light wear on one area of the outside edge (hardly worth mentioning as you can't see it)

Grade :  9.7        Estimate:   £200-300+      Reserve:     N/R

29 £ 320

Pot Lid:    'C. DOREZ, LONDON'

Description:  A very impressive and eye-catching lid featuring an almost masonic-like facial image radiating lines and positioned over the globe which in iteslf is surrounded by clouds. Fabulous use of shading to bring out the best of this superb overall design. Excellent quality print. Scarce/rare

Era:    c1880-1900's

Diameter:    65mm

Condition (please see detailed photo's):   Mint   Superb undamaged mint condition

Grade :  9.9        Estimate:   £80-100+      Reserve:     N/R

22 £ 185
